Women's golf eighth after first day of Samford Intercollegiate

HOOVER, Ala. – The Lipscomb women’s golf team opened the 2015 Samford Intercollegiate on Monday in eighth place at the Hoover Country Club in Hoover, Alabama.

Lipscomb was led by junior Miriam Parker, who fired a +20, 164 (84-80) to end the first day of action in a tie for 32nd.  Senior Samantha Khan followed two strokes behind Parker with a +22, 166 (87-79) in a tie for 34th.

Fellow senior Morgan Bucher finished one stroke behind Khan with a +23, 167 (87-80) to finish the day tied for 37th.  Freshmen Samantha Griffith and Jenny Muesing rounded out the competitors for the Purple and Gold.  Griffith notched a +30, 173 (90-83) while Muesing carded a +37, 180 (95-85).

Ole Miss leads the 10-team field with a +34, 610 (308-302).  The Lady Bisons posted a +94, 670 (348, 322).  Samford’s Bailey Gray and Ole Miss’ Alison Hovater sit atop the leaderboard at +5.

The event concludes on Tuesday morning with the final 18 holes of the 54-hole event.
