Women's golf places eighth in Samford Intercollegiate

HOOVER, Ala. – The Lipscomb women’s golf team wrapped up the 2015 Samford Intercollegiate on Tuesday with an eighth-place finish in the event hosted at the Hoover Country Club.

The Lady Bisons combined to shoot a +130, 994 (348-322-324) in the 54-hole event.  Ole Miss took home top honors behind a +43, 907 (308-302-297) ahead of host Samford, who ended the event eight strokes behind.

Junior Miriam Parker paced Lipscomb with a +26, 216 (84-80-78) to finish tied for 30th.  Senior Morgan Bucher followed behind Parker with a +33, 249 (87-80-82) to tie for 35th.

Freshman Samantha Griffith closed the even with her best round of the week, firing an 83 to tie for 42nd along with senior teammate Samantha Khan. Griffith and Khan each finished the event with a final total of 254.

Freshman Jenny Muesing rounded out the competitors for the Lady Bisons tying for 49th behind a +47, 263 (95-85-83).

After starting the day in fifth place, Ole Miss’ Stani Schiavone fired a blistering 65 over the final 18 holes to claim medalist honors with a -1, 215.

The next scheduled action for the Lady Bisons will be the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship held in Jekyll Island, Georgia, on April 14-16.
