Khan leads women's golf to fourth on A-Sun day one

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Lipscomb women’s golf team opened the 2015 Atlantic Sun Championship with a solid first day sitting in fourth place among the league foes on Sunday at the Reunion Resort in Kissimmee.

The Lady Bisons opened the 3-day, 54-hole event with a 308, just one shot off the best mark in school history in the league championship.  Kennesaw State sits atop the field after a 287 on the first day, while FGCU and Jacksonville sit just behind after scores of 303 and 304, respectively.

Senior Samantha Khan led the way for Lipscomb with a four-over 76 to finish the day in 12th place.  The freshman duo of Jenny Muesing and Samantha Griffith finished one stroke behind Khan.

Junior Miriam Parker carded a 78 on day one while senior Morgan Bucher fired an 81.

KSU’s Dulcie Sverdlof finished the day atop the leaderboard with a two-under, 70.
