Griffith leads women's golf again on day two at Banister

GLENCOE, Ala. – Freshman golfer Samantha Griffith continued her solid play on Monday at the Chris Banister Golf Classic but the Lipscomb women’s golf team fell one position to eighth at the Silver Lakes Golf Course.

After firing a +3, 75 on the opening day of competition, Griffith followed with an identical round on day two to rank sixth in the event.  The newcomer sits five strokes back of Troy’s Fatima Fern Cano, who sits at +1 for the tournament after carding a 70 on Monday.

Junior Miriam Parker continued her strong play in the event as well moving up to a tie for 17th with a +4, 76.  Freshman Charley Benefield notched an 82 in her second round of collegiate action while senior Morgan Bucher carded an 87.

Freshman Jenny Muesing rounded out the day with an 86 as the Lady Bisons combined to shoot a 319.

Troy continues to lead the 11-team field after shooting a 303 on Monday. 

The event wraps up on Tuesday with the final 18 holes of the 54-hole tournament.
