Women's golf in ninth after day one at APSU

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb women’s golf team opened the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate on Monday with a +46, 334.

With the first 18 holes in the books, the Lady Bisons sit in ninth place in the 10-team field in the event hosted by Austin Peay at the Clarksville Country Club.

Freshman Samantha Griffith led the Purple and Gold on day one with a +7, 79 to finish the day tied for 20th.  Fellow newcomer Charley Benefield along with veterans Samantha Khan and Morgan Bucher followed Griffith with the trio tying for 47th with +13, 85s.

Rookie Ines Konschewitz rounded out the competitors for Lipscomb as she fired a +17, 89 in her first collegiate event.

Belmont and Murray State sit tied atop the leaderboard as each fired a +13, 301 on Monday.  Tennessee Tech’s Whitney Robertson was the only participant to reach par with a 72 in blustery conditions.

The second round of the 36-hole event gets underway on Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m.
