Final day finds women's golf in 14th in Hawaii

KANE‘OHE, Hawaii – The Lipscomb women’s golf team completed the first tournament of the spring on Wednesday with a 14th-place finish in the 2015 Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational hosted by the University of Hawaii.

 Oklahoma State claimed top honors in the field with a -2, 862 ahead of Texas A&M, who finished with a +6, 870 in the event at the Kane’ohe Klipper Golf Course.  Lipscomb ended the tournament with a +87, 951 after combining to shoot 320 on the final day of action in the 54-hole event.

The Lady Bisons were led by junior Miriam Parker and freshman Samantha Griffith, who both tied for 39th with a +17, 233.  Griffith shot a +7, 79 on Wednesday, while Parker carded a +10, 82 to close the tourney.

Senior Morgan Bucher finished tied for 64th with a 242 (79-83-80) for the event ahead of fellow senior Samantha Khan, who finished 77th with a 249 (89-80-80).  Freshman Jenny Muesing rounded out the competitors for the Purple and Gold with a 78th-place finish one stroke behind Khan.  Muesing’s 250 came via rounds of 84, 85 and 81.

Texas A&M’s Marijosse Navarro took home medalist honors with a -3, 213 (70-70-73) in the event.

The Lady Bisons continue spring action March 23-24 at the Samford Intercollegiate in Hoover, Alabama.
