Women's golf lands in eighth after first day at MSU

MURRAY, Ky.  – The Lipscomb women’s golf squad opened 2015-16 action on Monday with the first round of the Murray State Invitational at the Miller Memorial Golf Course ending the day in eighth place.

Host Murray State sits atop the leaderboard of the event after an opening day 303 ahead of Southern Illinois, who finished just three strokes behind.  Lipscomb ended day one of the event with a +40, 328.

Sophomores Jenny Muesing and Ines Konschewitz tied for the team lead with +9, 81s just one stroke ahead of senior Miriam Parker, who carded an 82 on the par-72 course.

Sophomore Samantha Griffith and freshman Ashton Martin rounded out the competitors for Lipscomb with the pair each finishing the day with a +12, 84.

The 36-hole event concludes on Tuesday with the final 18 holes in the “Bluegrass State.”
