GLENCOE, Ala.– Sophomore women’s golfer Samantha Griffith used a solid final round to finish in the top five of the 2015 Chris Banister Classic on Tuesday in Glencoe, Alabama.
The Ooltewah, Tennessee native finished the 54-hole event with a 71, the second lowest round of the tournament, to give her a +9, 225 (76, 78, 71). The effort saw Griffith tie Samford’s Anna Buchanan for fourth place. Griffith led the tournament with 10 birdies over the three rounds.
Senior Miriam Parker also scored in the 70’s on Tuesday with a 77 in her final 18 holes to end the event with a +18, 234 (78, 79, 77), putting her in a tie for 22nd. Sophomore Ines Konschewitz finished with a +28, 244 (83, 78, 83) in a tie for 46th.
Sophomore Charley Benefield carded an 80 on the final day of action to finish with a 248 (85, 83, 80) ahead of classmate Jenny Muesing, who finished with a 257 (85, 88, 84).
The Lady Bisons finished in 10th place with a team score of 951 (322, 318, 311). Troy took home top honors as a team with a score of 921 (314, 300, 307) with Trojan Fatima Cano earning medalist honors with a +1, 217 to win by one stroke.
Lipscomb returns to action Oct. 12-13 in the APSU Intercollegiate hosted by Austin Peay in Clarksville, Tennessee.
