NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb women’s golf team returns to the links as it tees off its 2019-20 season at the MSU Greenbrier Invitational on Monday in Lexington, Kentucky.
Heading up her third season, head coach Jesse Lawley returns six members from last year’s squad and welcomes four freshman to the team in Izzy Cantwell, Olivia DiPaolo, Mary Kate Smith and Kaylee Wu.
The Bisons will look to rely on Rachael McMahan and Sydney Willis for senior leadership. McMahan had the lowest scoring average (78.33) on the squad last year, while Willis compiled a scoring average of 90.83 in limited action.
Last season, McMahan shot 10 of her 15 rounds sub-80 and led the Bisons at the ASUN Championship with a 13th place finish (80-78-82=240).
Emma Wasson returns for her junior season and finished fourth on the team in scoring average (80.33) in 2018-19. She also recorded five top-50 finishes over 10 tournaments.
Junior KiLynn Gold finished the season with a scoring average of 82.77 in the five tournaments she participated in.
Sophomore Sarah Hinton had an impressive freshman season and finished second on the team in scoring average (78.54). At the Fred Marx invite she finished in a tie for third (74-73=147), which was the best finish by a women’s golfer on the season.
Sophomore Emily Keeling was third on the team in scoring average (80.04) and shot 17 of her 28 rounds sub-80. She also recorded three top-25 finishes including her personal best at the Fred Marx Invite where she tied for 19th (73-79=152).
The MSU Greenbrier Invitational will play 36 holes on Monday and finish with 18 holes on Tuesday.
