JONESBORO, Ark. - The Lipscomb women's golf team concluded play at the Lady Red Wolves Classic on Tuesday afternoon and finished tied for second at 881 (298-294-289).
The Bisons saved their best round for last and fired a 1-over, 289 in the third round to jump up one spot on the leaderboard. After setting the school record for best score in-relation-to-par in both rounds yesterday, Lipscomb changed the record books once more with its performance in the final round.
Host team Arkansas State won the team title at 873, eight strokes better than Lipscomb and Southern Illinois.
Sophomore Emily Keeling paced the Purple and Gold on the leaderboard and finished tied in fourth at 217 (70-70-77). This was her third top-five finish of the season.
Finishing right behind Keeling was Rachael McMahan in sixth at 218 (74-75-69). The regining ASUN Player of the Weeks final-round 69 was the best score of the day for the Bisons and is the lowest 18-hole score in her Lipscomb career.
Izzy Cantwell also had a nice outing and finished inside the top-20, as she tied for 16th at 222 (72-76-74).
"My goodness what a list of great golf rounds we have had lately," said Lipscomb head coach Jesse Lawley. "It's been a great tournament and 1-over is the best round across the board ever in Lipscomb golf history. I truly couldn't be more proud of my girls. It's such a privilege every week to coach them.
"The willpower and grind was so evident today in all my girls. We have some time off before we wrap up the fall season here in Nashville and we hope to see you all there."
The Bisons will conclude their fall season on Oct. 28-29 at the Town and Country Invitational.
