Where are they now? with Courtney Boynton West
What sport(s) did you play at Lipscomb? What years? Who were your coaches?

Women's Basketball from 2001-2005.  Coach Bennett, Coach Snell, and Coach Smith

What is your fondest athletic memory at Lipscomb?

Winning the Atlantic Sun Conference against UCF to make it to the NCAA tournament in 2004.

Who had the biggest influence on you during your athletic career at Lipscomb? How?

Coach Bennett.  He not only cared about us as basketball players, but also as people.  He would constantly check up on us just see how we were doing, making sure our personal life was going ok.  He wanted us to grow as a christian more than anything and taught me that basketball was important, but God was the most important.  He challenged me to become better every practice and was such a great leader for our team.  He kept things in perspective for us and was such a good father figure for us all.

What is your fondest non-athletic memory from your time at Lipscomb?

I would say the friendships that I made with the people and staff at Lipscomb over the four years that I was there.  I met genuinely good people that I will have as my friends for the rest of my life.

What is the most valuable thing you gained or learned from your time at Lipscomb?

Lipscomb taught me what things are truly important in life. I learned that above playing athletics and growing in academics, that putting God first is a priority.  Without doing that, you can not grow in any of those things.

Who was your favorite professor? Why?

Trish Hodgson.  She was an unbelievable teacher that would bring out the best in her students.  She would push me to be the best physical education teacher that I could be.  She was a great mentor that helped me juggle basketball and academics.  By her being my advisor, she helped me become organized with my classes by laying every semester out for me to make sure I understood what was ahead.  She was an incredible athlete, teacher, advisor, and friend that I learned so much from.

Where do you live now?

Hendersonville, TN

Who is your employer? What is your occupation? What does your position entail?

Sumner County Schools.  I am an elementary physical education teacher.  I teach physical education to K-5 students at Madison Creek Elementary.  We are the second largest elementary school in Sumner County with almost 800 students.  I also conduct a basketball camp for all of my students every summer to raise money for our p.e. program at the school.  I was coaching basketball and softball at Beech High School, but for the last two years I have not been coaching so that I could have more time with my daughter.

Tell us about your family:

I have been married to my husband Kerry West for almost 4 years now.  We have a daughter named Kaylor Brooke that will be 2 years old in April.  My husband coaches the Boys Basketball Team at Hendersonville High School and teaches there as well.  We built a house in Hendersonville 4 years ago and have lived there since.
