The Lipscomb women’s soccer team were one of five female programs honored on Wednesday afternoon for its academic success in the 2014-15 season by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The Lady Bisons had the highest team GPA among the A-Sun teams with a mark of 3.69.

After a stellar performance at the Lipscomb Nike Invitational over the weekend, freshman Maycie McKay has earned her first career Atlantic Sun Player of the Week award. McKay notched a goal and an assist over the two games.

Lipscomb (5-2-4) women’s soccer ended the Nike Invitational undefeated after a tense 1-1 draw with Western Carolina (4-3-2) on Saturday night. Freshman Maycie McKay slotted in a goal sent from sophomore Paige Miller in the 30th minute to give the Lady Bisons an early momentum boost.

After going an Atlantic Sun record 606 minutes without giving up a goal to begin the season Lipscomb (4-1-2) finally allowed a goal in a 2-0 loss at Vanderbilt (3-3) on Sunday afternoon. The Lady Bisons’ defense held strong for most of the outing, thwarting off Vanderbilt’s attacks throughout the game.
