NASHVILLE, Tenn. –Unbeaten in their last three games with a victory over Austin Peay and ties against Trevecca and Chattanooga, the Lipscomb women’s soccer team travels to Martin, Tenn. for a Sunday matinee with UT-Martin on Sept. 9 at 1 p.m.
The Lady Bisons are coming off a 0-0 tie with Trevecca on Thursday night. LU had 23 shots on the night landing 13 on target. A staunch goalkeeping effort from Trevecca prevented a Lady Bisons breakthrough. Freshman Caroline Chadwell, the team leader in attempted shots, had 10 attempts on goal in the contest but could not find the back of the net.
Senior goalkeeper Erin Zerio picked up her third shutout of the season and eighth of her career on Thursday, stopping all six shots that came her way.
UTM sits at 1-4-1, coming off a 4-1 loss at Arkansas State on Friday. Kendyl Wilson leads the Skyhawks with three goals and two assists while Saph Coombs-James has two goals and one assist. Midori Sera leads the team with 14 shots, however she has only been able to place two on frame with no goals.
The Skyhawks have had a daunting schedule to date, playing SEC schools Mississippi State and Vanderbilt along with Big Ten foe Purdue. Three of the four losses have come at the hands of the BCS schools while the fourth loss was Friday’s game at Arkansas State. The lone victory on UTM’s schedule was a 6-1 defeat of Mississippi Valley State.
Following Sunday’s match, Lipscomb stays on the road for a contest with Alabama State in Montgomery, Ala. on Friday, Sept. 14th at 7 p.m.
