Friday, October 08, 2010The Lady Bisons put a damper on “Senior Night” with a 2-1 loss to North Florida Friday in an Atlantic Sun Conference game at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex.
North Florida jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half. Carolina Lencina scored her fifth goal of the season at 5:38. She put a chip shot into the corner of the net on a cross in front. Keara Murphy earned the assist.
At 10:37 North Florida struck again when Lauren Hopfensperger scored off a cross in front of the net. It was her eighth goal of the season.
Danielle Bethke answered for the Lady Bisons at 25:54 with an unassisted goal. She beat a defender one-vs.-one and put a shot into the corner of the net.
The game was scoreless the rest of the way.
North Florida outshot the Lady Bisons 12-to-11 and also had a 6-to-4 edge in shots on goal.
Kate Spellman and Lacey Cross were honored on “Senior Night”.
The Lady Bisons slipped to 4-10, 0-6 in the conference. North Florida is 6-8 overall, 5-2 in the conference.
Sunday at noon the Lady Bisons will host Jacksonville. It will be the final home game for the Lady Bisons who finish the regular season with three games on the road.
