NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb University women’s soccer team will be hosting an alumni match on Saturday August 4, with kickoff at 5 p.m. This will be the first time Lipscomb fans can see new head coach Kevin O’Brien in action as the Lady Bisons will take on former players in the Purple and Gold match at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex.
“We are excited about this year’s Alumni game for several reasons….first off, it’s a great opportunity for the coaching staff to evaluate the players, both new and old, in a competitive 11 aside match,” said Coach O’Brien.
The alumni players in attendance will have the chance to suit up and play competitive soccer one more time taking on the 2012 Lady Bisons.
“It’s just awesome to have the alums involved in the lives of our players, offering them encouragement and advice about how to be a successful student athlete here at Lipscomb,” added O’Brien. “We, coaches and players alike, want to develop the strongest possible relationships with our alum’s because we know that they have information, contacts, and resources that can help us all be more successful as we strive to put Lipscomb Soccer in its first NCAA College Cup.”
The Lady Bisons will play one other exhibition match, a contest against Belmont at Rose Park on August 10 at 6 p.m. The regular season will kick-off with a home match against Jackson State on August 17, with a 7 p.m. start at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex.
