NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb women’s soccer team plays their final road non-conference match on Friday in Montgomery, Ala., with a 7 p.m. kick-off against Alabama State.
The match will be the first ever meeting between the two schools.
Lipscomb, coming off a 5-1 loss to Tennessee Martin last Sunday, looks to rebound against the Hornets. In the loss to UTM, Molly Bray scored her team-leading third goal of the season, coming from a Karli Crosby assist, her second of the season.
In the contest, senior goalkeeper Erin Zerio upped her career saves total to 283, sliding her into 15th place all-time in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Zerio is now two saves away from moving into 14th place which is currently held by Alexa Rooney who played for Jacksonville from 1998-2000.
Alabama State sits 1-5-0 overall, having lost their last four contests. The Hornets fell 3-0 to Belmont in Montgomery last Friday.
India Pleasant and Anastasia McCleary each have two goals for the Hornets, who have been shutout in their last four contests. Alexandria Cannon leads the team with 12 shot attempts but has only connected on one goal. Goalkeeper Kylee Hathway has 46 saves on the season, allowing 41 goals and 2.80 goals against average.
Following the match with ASU, the Lady Bisons return home for the final nonconference tune-up of the year in a date with Tennessee Tech at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex on Monday at 7 p.m.
