Lipscomb Soccer Complex set for Lady Bisons arrival

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Midway through the Atlantic Sun Conference season, the Lipscomb women’s soccer team is set to host Mercer and Kennesaw State in weekend match-ups. Friday’s contest against Mercer is slated for 7 p.m. while the Lady Bisons will play Kennesaw State on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex.

The Lady Bisons earned a draw with Stetson and fell 2-0 to Florida Gulf Coast last weekend, as its record stands at 2-7-3 and 0-3-1 in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

Caroline Chadwell scored her second career goal on Sunday, the equalizer, in the 56th minute to push for a draw at Stetson. Baylee Linnell used a throw-in to connect with Chadwell, the second time this season that scenario has played out for LU.

In the loss to FGCU, the Lady Bisons were only able to attempt one shot against the stifling Eagle defense.

Goalkeeper Erin Zerio continues her assault on the A-Sun record books as she sits in 11th place all-time with 310 saves. With 12 more saves, she will crack the top-10.

Mercer enters Friday night 8-3-2, unbeaten in their last six games. In A-Sun play, the Bears are 2-0-1 and in second place. Most recently, the Bears defeated USC Upstate 3-0 and East Tennessee State 3-1.

The high-powered Mercer offense leads the A-Sun with 30 goals scored and is led by Lauren Gassie with six goals and three assists. Splitting time in the goal, Maggie Cropp has 21 saves and a 0.48 goals against average while Nikki Atkinson has logged 90 more minutes than Cropp, with 22 saves and a 1.11 goals against average.

Kennesaw State enters the weekend 5-6-1 and 1-1-1 in conference play. Last weekend the Owls fell 3-1 to ETSU and beat USC Upstate 3-0.

Danielle Gray leads KSU with six goals while Katrina Frost has tacked on four goals and three assists with a team leading 38 shots. Melissa Hutto has spent nine games in goal stopping 41 shots and a 1.27 goals against average.

Both contests can be seen live on ASun.TV for free.

Following the weekend, the Lady Bisons travel for the final time this season as they go to USC Upstate and ETSU next Friday and Sunday, respectively.
