KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb Lady Bisons soccer team is back in action for their spring season after they executed an outstanding 1-0 win over Tennessee and a 2-0 win over Western Carolina University.
“It’s always great to get back to playing outside competition, especially when the competition is against strong opponents,” said Head Coach Kevin O’Brien. “To get two wins was rewarding, exciting, and fully deserved.”
The competition against UT was a particularly special challenge for O’Brien since UT was the first game the Lady Bisons ever played under O’Brien’s tutelage.
“We are thrilled that we are closing the competitive gap between us and the top Division I programs in the country,” said O’Brien.
O’Brien feels that the spring season is not solely based on improving results in future games.
“Our coaching philosophy is that the spring season is about player and team development far more than it is about results,” said O’Brien. “Even though there were a lot of positives to come out of this past weekend, we still have a lot of improving to do. So we’ll keep pushing the players technical and tactical development until the semester is over.”
