MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Lipscomb women’s soccer team fought a tough battle against Memphis Tuesday night leaving the Mike Rose Soccer Complex with a 0-0 tie against the Lady Tigers.
“I was very proud of the team tonight,” said head coach Kevin O’Brien. “It was a great effort against a great opponent.”
The Lady Bisons advance to 1-1-1 on the season while Memphis moves to 1-0-1.
“Memphis is a team that will do very well this season” O’Brien said. “It was a great display of working together as a team collectively and being hard to break down.
"If we can put in this kind of defensive effort every game and make positive adjustments to our attacking, I’d say that we can play with just about anyone."
The Purple and Gold held the Lady Tigers off to a scoreless regulation period ultimately resulting in two bouts of scoreless overtime.
Sophomore goalkeeper Anna Buhigas secured five saves for the evening playing all 90 minutes.
- The matchup with Memphis was the first time the Lady Bisons have competed with the Lady Tigers in over 10 years.
