MACON, Ga. – In the midst of a record-breaking weekend for the Lipscomb women’s soccer team, sophomore Carolyn Springsteen is bringing another honor to the table.
Springsteen, an accounting major from Mason, Ohio, was named this week’s Defensive Player of the Week by the Atlantic Sun Conference for her electrifying performance against Chattanooga Sunday night.
Springsteen drilled a game-winning header into the net after an assist from Natalie DuBoise coming off a Lipscomb corner kick. The goal was her first of the season.
Nabbing her first career Defensive Player of the Week honor, Springsteen has started in all six of her games played so far this year logging 582 minutes.
With the win over Chattanooga, the Lady Bisons made program history winning three games in a row for the first time, all of which were shutouts.
Springsteen will be back in action with the Purple and Gold Friday Sept. 12 to take on Vanderbilt at 7 p.m. at the Vanderbilt Soccer Complex.
