Springsteen snags second A-Sun weekly honor

MACON, Ga. – After leading the Lipscomb women’s soccer team to its record-breaking seventh win of the season, sophomore Carolyn Springsteen added another Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Week honor to her collection, announced by the league office Monday.

Springsteen, a native of Mason, Ohio, scored the final goal for the Lady Bisons Saturday night against Kennesaw State in the conference opener.

Much like the play that awarded her the conference honor earlier in the season, she connected with the net after landing a header off a corner kick.

The goal was Springsteen’s second of the year as well as her career. Logging 1,027 minutes for the season, she has started in all 11 games she has played.

Lipscomb returns to conference play this weekend hosting North Florida on Friday at 7 p.m. followed by a tilt with Jacksonville Sunday at 1 p.m.
