Lundy, Springsteen earn women's soccer preseason honors

MACON, Ga. – Juniors Carolyn Springsteen and Ellen Lundy were named to the women’s soccer preseason Atlantic Sun All-Conference team on Monday, as voted by the league’s head coaches.

While helping Lipscomb produce one of the stingiest defenses in program history, Springsteen earned a spot on the All-Conference Second Team for the 2014 season. She started all 18 games that she played in, tallying two goals on three shot attempts.

Lundy was one of Lipscomb’s leading scorers last season. In 13 starts out of 19 games played, she notched five goals and two assists for a total of 12 points. She also took 25 shots, and landed 12 on goal.

In the preseason coaches’ poll, the Lady Bisons finished tied for third with Kennesaw State. Both teams received 46 points and a first place vote. Florida Gulf Coast came in first with 62 points, while Jacksonville finished second with 47.

The Lady Bisons will kick off the 2015 season with an exhibition match at UAB on Wednesday at 7 p.m., followed by a preseason tilt with Belmont on Sunday at 5 p.m. Lipscomb will then start the regular season on Friday, Aug. 21 at Tennessee at 6 p.m.
