MACON, Ga. – For the second time in her Lipscomb career, Anna Buhigas has earned the Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Week award.
Buhigas opened up the season with a six save, two overtime shutout in a scoreless draw against Tennessee, helping the Lady Bisons earn their first ever tie against an SEC school.
Two days later, during Lipscomb’s first home match of the season, Buhigas notched nine saves in a 2-0 victory over Ball State.
"I'm very excited for Anna and for the recognition she has received,” women’s soccer head coach Kevin O’Brien said. “She is our captain and on-field leader. Her reliability tending the nets is a huge confidence-builder to our team."
The junior goalkeeper amassed fifteen saves in the two shutouts, and has not allowed a goal in 200 consecutive minutes to begin the season.
With the two shutouts, the Columbus, Ohio native is now up to 17 shutouts for her career.
Buhigas and the rest of the Lady Bisons will be back in action Thursday at Cincinnati a 6 p.m. kickoff, followed a home date with Jacksonville State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
