McKay earns first career A-Sun women's soccer weekly honor

MACON, Ga. – After a stellar performance at the Lipscomb Nike Invitational over the weekend, freshman Maycie McKay has earned her first career Atlantic Sun Player of the Week award.

In the first game of the weekend, McKay assisted on the first goal in Lipscomb’s 2-0 victory over Akron on Thursday night. The Brentwood native followed up that performance by scoring the Lady Bisons’ only goal in a 1-1 tie with Western Carolina on Saturday.

McKay’s team-leading six goals rank second in the A-Sun, and are the highest total for a freshman. She is tied for the A-Sun lead with 30 shots, 14 of which have been on goal. Her 14 total points is also second in the conference.

The Lady Bisons begin conference play on Saturday night at Kennesaw State at six p.m. They currently stand atop the A-Sun standings at 5-2-4 at the conclusion of nonconference play.
