Buhigas earns third career A-Sun weekly honor

NASHVILLE – For the second time this season and the third time in her career, junior goalkeeper Anna Buhigas was named the Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Week after posting two shutouts over the weekend against a pair of conference opponents.

During Friday’s 1-0 shutout of JU, Buhigas notched three saves, and in Sunday’s 2-0 victory over UNF, Buhigas deflected 10 shots, giving her 80 saves on the year, the second best mark in the A-Sun.

Buhigas’ conference-leading shutout total now stands at 10, two shy of the single-season A-Sun record. She also leads the A-Sun in save percentage at .909 as well as goals against average with a 0.50 mark.

Thanks to the two wins over the weekend, Lipscomb now sits atop the conference standings with an overall record of 9-2-4 and an unblemished 4-0 A-Sun record.

The Lady Bisons will be back on the field with two conference home matches. On Friday, second-place Florida Gulf Coast comes to visit at 7 p.m. followed by a tilt with Stetson on Sunday at 1 p.m.
