MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Lipscomb (5-1-1) women’s soccer team prevailed on the road with a 1-0 victory over Alabama State (0-6) Friday night.
"We we're certainly not as sharp tonight as we've been in previous matches," Lipscomb women's soccer head coach Kevin O'Brien said. "Credit to ASU. I thought they played well and made things difficult.
"Having said that we created ample chances to score, but we just didn't have the finishing touch needed to capitalize on those opportunities."
Junior Natalie DuBoise slotted home a penalty in the 85th minute to put the Lady Bisons ahead for good. The goal was her third of the season.
"We must execute better as we move forward in order to realize the potential we have as a team," O'Brien said.
The Purple and Gold peppered the Hornets goal with shots throughout the night. The Lady Bisons outshot Alabama State 17-8, with four shots on goal.
Goalkeeper Anna Buhigas notched her fourth shutout of the season. The senior saved four shots in the win to give her 49 for the year.
