Women's soccer heads to Jacksonville for pair of ASUN matches

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Lipscomb women’s soccer team will be trekking down to Jacksonville for the weekend as the Lady Bisons are set to play ASUN Conference foes Jacksonville and North Florida.

Lipscomb is set to take on Jacksonville at 6 p.m. on Friday night followed by a noon kickoff with North Florida on Sunday.

The Purple and Gold head into the weekend having won its first conference game of the season in thrilling fashion. Sophomore Maycie McKay notched two goals, including the game winner, to help defeat Kennesaw State 3-2.

Scouting the Dolphins and Ospreys:

  • Jacksonville heads into the matchup with a 3-6 record. The Dolphins won their most recent outing, which was their first ASUN game of the season, 1-0 against North Florida.
  • Junior Joelle d’Entremont leads the team in both goals (three) and assists (two) for a team-high total of eight points.
  • North Florida enters the weekend with a 4-4-2 record. They will face Kennesaw State on Friday before taking on the Lady Bisons.
  • Senior Alexis Bredeau has led the way for the Ospreys with five goals and two assists for a total of 12 points.

Quick Hits:

  • The Lady Bisons have faced Jacksonville 14 times, with the Dolphins holding a 11-3 series advantage. However, Lipscomb defeated JU twice last season, including a 3-0 win in the ASUN semifinals.
  • Lipscomb trails North Florida 4-6-2 in the series history, but earned a 2-0 victory last season in Jacksonville.
  • Senior goalkeeper Anna Buhigas snatched up her fourth career Atlantic Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Week award for her performance in the team’s two opening week victories. She was also named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week, a first in the history of the program. She is now up to four shutouts and 70 saves on the year.
  • Freshman Olivia Doak was named the ASUN Player of the Week in her first week of action for the Lady Bisons. She scored all three of the team’s goals during the week: two against Vanderbilt and one against Belmont. She now has totaled six goals to lead the team. She also leads the team in total points with 13.
  • McKay has a team-high four assists to go along with her two goals giving her eight total points on the season.
  • Junior Natalie DuBoise is second on the team in three goals and tied for first with four assists, giving her 10 points so far on the year.
