Women's soccer to take on NJIT for Senior Day

NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb (10-4-2, 4-1-1) women’s soccer team is set to close out the regular season on Saturday as NJIT visits Nashville for a 1 p.m. showdown.

The Lady Bisons will be celebrating Senior Day for four student-athletes: Anna Buhigas, Alesondra Colbert, Lyndie Donegan, and Carolyn Springsteen.

The four seniors have compiled the highest win total for a class in program history.

Scouting the Highlanders:

  • NJIT heads into the matchup with a 6-8-3 record, including 2-4 in ASUN play. The Highlanders tied their previous outing against Delaware State.
  • Sophomores Melanie Zrno and Neema Liverpool are tied for the team lead with five goals apiece.
  • 10 different players have notched a goal for the Highlanders.
  • Senior goalkeeper Karen David has notched 74 saves and earned four shutouts so far this season.

Quick Hits:

  • The Lady Bisons have faced NJIT only once. It came last season as Lipscomb won 1-0 in New Jersey.
  • Senior goalkeeper Anna Buhigas snatched up her fourth career ASUN Conference Defensive Player of the Week award for her performance in the team’s two opening week victories. She was also named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week, a first in the history of the program. She is now up to five shutouts and 86 saves on the year.
  • Freshman Olivia Doak was named the ASUN Player of the Week in her first week of action for the Lady Bisons. She scored all three of the team’s goals during the week: two against Vanderbilt and one against Belmont. She now has totaled seven goals to lead the team. She also leads the team in total points with 16 and has notched two assists.
  • Sophomore Maycie McKay leads the team with five assists. She also has two goals for a total of nine points.
  • Junior Natalie DuBoise is second in goals (five) and assists (four) for a total of 14 points.
  • Doak leads McKay and DuBoise in total shots 31-30, while Doak has the advantage in shots on goal with 19 to DuBoise’s 18 and McKay’s 16.
