LakePoint, Ga. – After scoring both Bison goals in a 2-2 tie against no. 10 Auburn on Sunday night, Lipscomb women’s soccer freshman Riley Henry has been named the ASUN Player of the Week.
The performance came during Henry’s regular season debut with the Purple and Gold, marking the second straight year a Bison has won the award on their opening week of action with the team after Olivia Doak’s win last season.
Henry’s strikes off the bench gave the Bisons a 2-0 lead, which was held until the final 30 seconds of regulation when the Tigers tied the match.
The tie moves Lipscomb’s record to 2-6-2 overall against SEC opponents. They defeated Vanderbilt and Mississippi State last season for their first two SEC wins.
Auburn’s no. 10 national ranking marked the highest-slotted opponent faced in program history, and the only top-10 opponent faced in program history. The Tigers reached the Elite Eight of the Women’s College Cup last season.
Henry and the rest of the Bisons will be in action on Thursday at home against Arkansas State at 5 p.m.
