Women's soccer welcomes Georgia, UT-Martin for weekend home stand

NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb (1-2-1) women’s soccer team is set to take on a pair of teams at home over the weekend as Georgia (2-2) and UT-Martin (1-3) are headed to Nashville.

The match with the Bulldogs will kick off on Friday at 7 p.m., and the Skyhawks will take on the Bisons at 5 p.m. on Sunday.

You can follow along with live stats for both matches at the links provided. The game against Georgia will be broadcast on Facebook Live through the Lipscomb Sports Facebook page.

Scouting the Bulldogs and the Skyhawks:

  • Georgia heads into the matchup having lost to Virginia Tech 1-0 on the road.
  • Freshman Caroline Chipman leads the Bulldogs with one goal and one assist for three total points on the season.
  • UT-Martin lost to Western Kentucky 1-0 in overtime during its most recent outing.
  • Junior Danae Kaldaridou notched two goals and one assist, all in the Skyhawks 4-1 win over Marshall, for a total of five points.

Quick Hits:

  • Lipscomb is coming off of a 1-0 loss to Austin Peay on the road.
  • Although Lipscomb has never faced Georgia in the Division I era, this will be the program’s 11th match against an SEC school. They earned their first two victories over SEC programs last season, as they defeated Vanderbilt 2-0 at home and Mississippi State 1-0 on the road.
  • In the first road game of the season, Lipscomb earned a 2-2 tie against No. 10 Auburn, moving their overall program record versus SEC teams to 2-6-2. It was the highest-ranked opponent Lipscomb has ever faced, and their first point earned in a matchup with a ranked team.
  • Freshman Riley Henry earned the ASUN Player of the Week award for her performance in the Auburn outing. The Indianapolis native notched both Bison goals giving Lipscomb a 2-0 lead just after halftime. She also led the team with three shots and two shots-on-goal.
  • Three Bisons landed on the ASUN Preseason All-Conference team, with senior Niamh Rawlins being named Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. She was joined by sophomores Olivia Doak and Leah Cernicky on the squad.
  • Lipscomb was voted second in the ASUN Preseason Coaches Poll. They received 57 votes, just four behind first place FGCU, and earned two first-place votes.
