Women's soccer clinches share of ASUN title with win on Senior Night

NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb women’s soccer team celebrated Senior Night in a big way on Thursday as the Lady Bisons’ 2-0 win over North Alabama earned them a share of the ASUN regular season title.

Lipscomb (11-4-2, 6-1) scored in the 22nd minute of play, and held onto the lead for the rest of the night.

Redshirt-junior Maycie McKay notched first score, tapping in a deflection off of a long shot from fellow junior Leah Cernicky.

The goal was McKay’s fifth of the season, and the assist was Cernicky’s first.

Junior Olivia Doak added to the lead in the 79th minute of play, scoring on a breakaway to put the game away for good.

Doak is now tied with sophomore Riley Henry for a team-leading seven goals.

Redshirt-senior goalkeeper Kate Mason notched seven saves, upping her season total to 73.

North Alabama falls to 9-8 and 3-4 in the ASUN with the loss.

UP NEXT: The Lady Bisons will close out the regular season on Sunday on the road at Kennesaw State with a 5 p.m. kickoff.
