KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Coming off of a historic 2018 campaign, the Lipscomb women’s soccer team is continuing to haul in accolades as the Lady Bisons earned a number of honors from the 2018 United Soccer Coaches regional awards.
For the first time in program history, Lipscomb landed a player on the USC All-South Region First Team as junior Olivia Doak was named to the squad.
Senior Kate Mason and freshman Logan McFadden were voted onto the Second Team, while senior Justis Bailey was named to the Third Team. All four recipients were first-time honorees.
Last year marked the first time ever that Lipscomb had All-Region honorees, with Ellen Lundy making the Second Team and Niamh Rawlins on the Third Team.
The slew of All-Region honors caps a memorable season for Lipscomb. The Purple and Gold won the program’s first ASUN Tournament title after winning the regular season championship for the second season in a row.
Then, in the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance, the Lady Bisons knocked off Mississippi State on the road 1-0 in extra time, setting up a second round match with Duke in Washington D.C.
The Lady Bisons fell to the Blue Devils, but the season was still a major success.
Doak was named the ASUN Player of the Year after piling up nine goals and nine assists for 27 total points, all team-high marks.
Mason earned the ASUN Goalkeeper of the Year after notching 105 saves and nine shutouts not the season.
McFadden was voted the ASUN Defensive Player of the Year, while Bailey was also named to the All-Conference squad.
