Women's Soccer To Take On Cincinnati, Tennessee Tech This Week

NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb women’s soccer team continues play this week with a pair of matches.

The Bisons (4-2-0) will first take on Cincinnati on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex and then travel to Cookeville, Tenn. and face Tennessee Tech on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Thursday’s match will be available to stream through YouTube, while Sunday’s match will be broadcast on ESPN+. Live stats will be available for both matches as well.

 

SCOUTING THE BEARCATS AND GOLDEN EAGLES:

  • Cincinnati comes into the match with an overall record of 1-5. Its lone victory came over St. John’s with a score of 2-0.
  • Sophomore Vanessa DiNardo leads the Bearcats with two goals and four total points in 2019. DiNardo has tallied nine shots on the year with six shots coming on goal.
  • Cincinnati came away with a 2-1 win in overtime against the Bisons in last year’s matchup.
  • Tennessee Tech has an overall record of 2-2-2 in the early stages of the 2019 season.
  • The Golden Eagles leading goal scorer is freshman Bailey Taylor. She has tallied four goals on the season on 13 shots for a .308 percentage.
  • Lipscomb was able to top Tennessee Tech in last year’s meeting with a final score of 2-1.

 

HERD NOTES:

  • The Purple and Gold had a successful weekend going 2-0 at the Music City Invite. Lipscomb beat Marshall, 2-0 on Friday and Colgate, 3-1 on Sunday.
  • Katia Hanger was named the ASUN Defensive Player of the Week after scoring her first career goal versus Colgate.
  • Freshman Molly Grant also scored her first two career goals against Marshall.
  • Seniors Maycie McKay and Olivia Doak lead the Bisons in total points each tallying seven on the year. McKay has registered two goals and three assists, while Doak has scored three goals and notched one assist.
  • Melissa Gray recorded her second shutout of the season in the 2-0 win over Marshall.
  • Lipscomb’s backline allowed only four shots on goal over the two matches last weekend.
