AUSTIN, Texas - Senior Maycie McKay of the Lipscomb women's soccer team was named to a CoSIDA Academic All-America Team, as announced by the organization on Thursday afternoon.
The 2019 Academic All-America Women's Soccer Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom. McKay was selected to the third team and joins 32 other honorees with this selection.
Last month, McKay was selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team, which is split-up into eight districts among the United States and Canada, with McKay and Lipscomb being apart of District 3, which covers North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
This is the first time since 2003 (Kacey Wade, Third Team) that a member of the Bisons has been selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team.
The Brentwood, Tenn. native had an outstanding senior campaign notching six goals, a team-leading seven assists and 19 points, as well as a First Team All-Conference selection. She ended her Lipscomb career ranking third in school history with 23 career goals and is the all-time leader with 24 career assists.
She was also voted to the ASUN All-Academic Team with an impressive 4.0 GPA in Mathematics Teaching.
McKay also played a pivotal roll in helping lead the Bisons to their third-straight regular season championship and to back-to-back ASUN Tournament Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances. McKay and the rest of the women's soccer team saw their season end in the first round of the NCAA Tournament with a 1-0 loss to Louisville.
