The Lipscomb women’s tennis team opened the 2012 Spring season on Friday falling 7-0 to Vanderbilt at the Currey Tennis Center.

The Lipscomb women’s tennis team posted strong results this weekend when they competed in the “Rock ‘N Roll Tournament” hosted by Tennessee-Martin. The Lady Bisons were led by freshman Deahna Welcher, who went undefeated in both singles and doubles.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – With a come-from-behind win, sophomore Alyssa Bellini picked up Lipscomb tennis’ first ever main-draw win on Saturday at the “ITA Regional Indoor Championships” in Memphis.

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -- The Lipscomb women’s tennis team returned to Nashville after posting three wins in the “Austin Peay Fall Tournament” over the weekend.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Three of the Lipscomb women’s tennis players competed in the 28th “University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Steve Baras Fall Classic” at the Champions Club in Chattanooga, bringing home three wins for the Lady Bisons.

MUFREESBORO, Tenn. – With every member of the squad claiming at least one win, the Lipscomb women’s tennis team returned Sunday night from a successful weekend in Murfreesboro with 14 wins under their belts at the “Middle Tennessee Shootout.”

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Lipscomb women’s tennis team will open their fall season on Saturday when they head to Middle Tennessee State to compete in the “Middle Tennessee Shootout”in nearby Mufreesboro, Tenn.

Dr. Lynn Griffith, former Lipscomb tennis coach now serving as a professor in the kinesiology department, was joined by former Bisons tennis player Andy Mizell and Julianne McMeen, a former member of the Lady Bisons tennis team, on a trip to Haiti in July to teach and minister to those in need.

Paul Hembree played tennis for Lipscomb from 1939-1941. At the proud age of 89, he has the honor of being one of Lipscomb's oldest athletes. Retired and living in Brentwood, Paul recently visited with Andy Lane, Executive Director of the National Bison Club to reminisce about his athletic days at Lipscomb.

Eight Lipscomb University athletic teams received perfect NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores and twelve teams exceeded the national average for private schools in the latest report issued Tuesday by the NCAA.

The NCAA honored Lipscomb University's women's basketball, women's golf and women's tennis teams Tuesday with a Public Recognition Award for their high marks academically. These awards are given each year to teams scoring in the top 10 percent in each sport, based on their most recent Academic Progress Rates.
