The Lady Bisons began conference play against East Tennessee State on Friday in Johnson City, Tenn.

The top ranked Lady Buccaneers defeated the Lady Bisons 7-0 at the Buddy Hartsell Tennis Center.

“We played well but we weren’t ready for the intensity that ETSU brought to the match,” said Lady Bisons coach Kristin Lusk.

The Lady Bisons had trouble with consistently winning points.

“We’ve got to be ready to play several good points in a row for our match tomorrow against USC Upstate,” said Lusk. “We would play good points today and then make unforced errors.”

Freshman Elizabeth Keevil had a strong match, but lost to Vita Moskaliova 6-4, 6-4.

“We’re better and we know we can play with these teams,” said Lusk. “It’s just a matter of putting it all together.”

The Lady Bisons will travel to Spartanburg, SC tomorrow to face the University of South Carolina-Upstate. Following that match, they will play Wofford in Spartanburg, S.C., on Sunday.

The Lady Bisons are 5-4 overall, and 0-1 in the Atlantic Sun.
