Winning two of three doubles matches and five of 13 singles matches, the Lady Bisons were led by Mackenzie Bishop, a freshman from Florence, Ala., and sophomore Elizabeth Keevil from Toronto, Ontario. Bishop was a part of both doubles wins, playing with junior Kara Jackson and sophomore Danielle Hansen.
"Mackenzie had another strong showing on Saturday," said head coach Kristin Lusk. "She is proving to be a very versatile player. She's going to be a huge contributor to the team this spring."
Keevil went 2-1 in singles on Saturday, with her only loss against Murray State's Cassidy Cunitz.
"Elizabeth played great singles," said Lusk. "Her and Cunitz played a great match. Elizabeth didn't pull out the third set tie-breaker unfortunately, but I was really proud of how she competed this weekend."
"I was really happy with what I saw this weekend," said Lusk. "This is a stronger and more mature team than we've had in a while."
The Lady Bisons will see more fall action when they travel to Chattanooga to compete in the Steve Baras Classic on Oct. 2.
