With the loss, the Lady Bisons’ record slipped to 1-5.
“The afternoon started well with our ladies, coming out and clinching the doubles point,” women’s assistant coach Jamie Aid said. “We did not do a good job at allowing that momentum to transition into the singles matches.
Starting next week, we hit the ground running with conference matches, and the girls will be ready for that level of play. We have a solid week to work on some items that we saw in this North Alabama match.”
The Lady Bisons clinched the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots to take an early 1-0 lead over North Alabama.
Senior Kara Jackson and freshman Alyssa Bellini defeated former Lady Bison Mackenzie Bishop and her partner Madison Patey 8-3 at the No. 1 spot.
At No. 2, juniors Danielle Hansen and Elizabeth Keevil pulled out a crucial 9-7 victory over Vic Rees and Teresa Franco.
Senior Julianne McMeen and sophomore Carlina Jow fell at No. 3 8-1.
With a 1-0 lead going into singles play, the Lady Bisons only recorded one singles win at No. 4.
Bellini defeated Lenka Hola at No. 4 in a third set, with a tiebreaker replacing the third, winning 4-6, 6-3, 10-3.
At No. 1, Keevil was defeated by Rees 6-0, 6-1, while Jackson fell to Bruina Vieira 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2.
Hansen lost at No. 3 to Bishop 6-2, 6-0. At No. 5, McMeen was defeated 6-3, 6-0 by Franco, while junior Samantha Bowman fell to Patey 6-2, 6-0.
The Lady Bisons will open their conference matches Friday, March 4 against A-Sun foe Mercer. The match will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center.
