After going undefeated at the Invitational last season, were hopeful of making another strong showing this year. However, the ladies began the weekend with a close loss to the University of Dayton, falling 4-3 Friday.
Losing their first doubles match of the season, sophomore Elizabeth Keevil and freshman Mackenzie Bishop came up short at No. 1 doubles to Julie Kirkland and Loni Dickerhoof 6-8.
The No. 2 doubles pair of Kara Jackson and Danielle Hansen picked up a win, defeating Laina Grote and Kelley O'Connell 8-3.
Julianne McMeen and Carlina Jow lost at No. 3 to Sarah Van Wallegham and Chelsea Glankler 1-8.
With a 0-1 deficit going into singles, the Lady Bisons hoped to pick up some wins early on in singles play.
Bishop earned a win for Lipscomb at No. 1, beating Kirkland 6-4, 6-2.
Tied 1-1, at No. 2, Keevil fell to Dickerhoof 1-6, 0-6.
Down 1-2, Hansen squeezed out a win at No. 3 against Grote 6-3, 6-4, bringing the match score back to an even 2-2.
Jackson defeated Wallegham 6-1, 6-3, at the No. 4 spot, giving LU a 3-2 lead.
The Lady Bisons lost at No. 5 and No. 6 stopping their rally.
Jow was defeated by Glanker at No. 5, 2-6, 0-6.
At No. 6, McMeen lost to O'Connell 1-6, 1-6.
