Women's tennis continues fall play in Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Three of the Lipscomb women’s tennis players competed in the 28th “University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Steve Baras Fall Classic” at the Champions Club in Chattanooga, bringing home three wins for the Lady Bisons.

After losing 7-5, 6-3 in the first round to UAB’s Rachel Daniell, freshman Jenny Borck posted a win for the Lady Bisons, defeating Jacksonville State’s Zoe Bizinos 7-5, 6-2. Borck went on to lose 7-5, 6-2 to former Lady Bison Mackenzie Bishop, who plays for North Alabama.

Senior Sam Bowman recorded a 6-1, 6-3 first round win over Xavier’s May Maffey before going on to lose to UNA’s Madison Patey 6-1, 6-3.

Freshman Deahna Welcher fell to Xavier’s Kally Alkire and UAB’s Menanteau Moolman, 6-2, 6-1 and 7-5(6), 6-4 respectively.

The Lady Bisons picked up one doubles win.  Borck and Welcher easily defeated UNA’s Teresa Franco and Bruna Viera 8-1.

Lipscomb heads to Austin Peay on Friday to compete in the “Austin Peay Fall Tournament.”
