ST. LOUIS -- This past weekend, the women’s tennis team ventured to St. Louis, Mo., to play in the Billiken Classic at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center at the University of St. Louis.
The tournament allowed for dominant play from sophomores Deahna Welcher and Jenny Borck, who swept their doubles matches against duos from Morehead State, SIUE and St. Louis.
Welcher, Borck and freshman Melissa Kromer all had two individual wins apiece. Junior Alyssa Bellini had one individual victory, while sophomore Shilpa Naruka and freshman Reagon Panovec also competed.
The tournament was played in both the round-robin format and some matches in draws.
Following this tournament, the women’s tennis team will travel down the street to compete in the Lipscomb/Belmont invitational at the Centennial Sportsplex.
