NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The men’s and women’s tennis teams both played the visiting North Alabama Lions Saturday night, and both walked away with a win in hand.
The women’s team’s 6-1 victory marked their first of the season while the men’s team notched a 7-0 win, their second of the season.
For the women’s team, Melissa Kromer, Alyssa Bellini, Lorena Djuknic, Jenny Borck and Shilpa Naruka all posted wins in the singles competition. The doubles teams of Lorena Djuknic-Alyssa Bellini and Melissa Kromer-Shilpa Naruka netted victories.
For the men’s team, David Salazar, Daniel Hernandez, Colby Shaw, Miguel Cortez, Tanner Brown and John Tougher all won their singles matches. The doubles teams of Oliver Strecker-David Salazar, Stuart Tierney-Miguel Cortez and Tanner Brown-Colby Shaw emerged victorious.
Lipscomb coach Andrew Harris expressed his pride in the play by both teams.
“We were hoping to get the opportunity to put some new players in on the men's side that we haven't had a chance to see lately,” Harris said. “So, it was good those guys came out and were successful.
“The ladies tonight were sharp from the beginning in doubles. I liked the way we came out in singles and exhibited the control early on in the matches to ultimately succeed.”
