Lady Bisons tennis tries to stay perfect in Chattanooga

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb Women’s Tennis team will put its 2-0 record on the line this weekend with a pair of matches in Chattanooga.

After beating both Tennessee-Martin and Belmont in the opening weekend of the season the Lady Bisons will play Tennessee-Chattanooga Friday and Evansville Saturday. Both matches will be held at the indoor tennis facility at The McCallie School. Both matches begin at 4 p.m. CST.

The Atlantic Sun Conference announced Lipscomb junior Jenny Borck as “Player of  the Week”. Borck has recorded four consecutive victories, two singles and two doubles, in the past two matches.

“I am so thankful and happy to start the season off so strongly”, Borck said.

Also making an impression quickly is freshman Laura Kent from Australia with a pair of singles victories. She arrived on campus in January for the spring semester.

“I have enjoyed the first few weeks, training has been pretty good and we won some  good matches last weekend,” Kent said.

Kent plays a very aggressive style of tennis.

“Laura has done really well,” Lipscomb women’s tennis coach Jamie Aid said. “She has made the transition very, very easy. We feel like she has been here for eight months, not two weeks.”

Sophomore Lorena Djuknic is also on a singles winning streak, standing 2-0 in the season so far.

“I feel very confident as I am able to apply the things that I am working on at practice,” Djuknic said.

Aid is working on developing a system to execute what is being practiced on the court into the matches.

“The expectation is to raise the level of play each time we leave the court,” Aid said.
