Women's tennis set for battle with Ole Miss

OXFORD, Miss. – The Lipscomb Lady Bisons will face their biggest challenge of the spring tennis season when they visit the No. 34-ranked Ole Miss team.

The match is scheduled to begin at noon Friday at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center on the Mississippi campus.

“Ole Miss will be a great match for us to see how smart we can approach matches,” Lipscomb coach Jamie Aid said. “They will force our girls to develop points and not rush.”

The Lady Bisons are 5-2 and coming off a 4-3 win over Austin Peay. Ole Miss is 3-1. The Rebels swept Jacksonville State 7-0 in their last match.

Ole Miss shut down Lipscomb 4-0 last season in Nashville.

“This group of Bisons is a young bunch and has produced results that our program has never seen in the NCAA era,” Aid said. “We are extremely proud of what they have accomplished and we are eager for a challenge Friday. We hope to leave Oxford with a good amount of growth.”

Aid and her players are seeking wins each weekend, but the primary goal is to be prepared for Atlantic Sun Conference play.

“At this point in the season we are four matches away from conference play,” Aid said. “Every match is important so we have the right amount of confidence rolling into the first conference match.”
