Kent has strong day for women's tennis

DELAND, Fla. - The Lipscomb women’s tennis team finished off its Florida road trip with a 4-3 loss at Stetson on Saturday.

For the second match in a row, the Lady Bisons took the always important doubles point to get an early lead in the match.

The Lady Bisons started things off right when the third-seeded team of Danielle Kinnen and Hannah Gamage defeated Maja Salibasic and Arijana Korac 8-5.

They took the point in the close top-seed doubles match. Laura Kent and Melissa Kromer took on Isabella Fernandez and Eveline Lepinay and pulled out the victory 8-7.

Stetson (14-2, 3-0) was able to recover as they came out hot in singles play, taking four of the six matches.

Lipscomb (9-9, 0-3) was able to stay in the match as Kent and Jenny Borck won their respective singles matches.

Kent played as the three seed against Korac and pulled out the 6-4, 6-4 victory.

Borck faced Carolina Meregalli in the five spot and won 6-4, 6-2.

The Lady Bisons will look to turn things around as they face USC-Upstate (2-14, 0-3) next Thursday in Nashville at the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center.
