Women's tennis to play pair of in-state foes

The Lipscomb Lady Bison tennis team will look to bounce back from their Sunday loss to Memphis, as they will play Austin Peay and UT-Chattanooga this weekend.

Memphis came into that match ranked No. 58 in the nation and head coach Jamie Aid felt the trip was a good learning experience for her team. Even with the loss, Aid feels her team is growing in confidence and will only continue to grow as the season progresses.

“As we progress through the schedule we hope to have more confidence and more confidence and more confidence,” Aid said.

Aid felt her team’s energy wasn’t where it needed to be on Sunday and they will look to fix that going into the weekend.

“At Memphis we kind of ebbed and flowed in terms of energy,” Aid said. “In doubles, there were some teams that had a lot of energy and some teams that didn’t so we need to be more consistent.”

Aid credits her team with making sure their energy has been up throughout the week. Team captains Jenny Borck and Danielle Kinnen have been major influences in keeping the focus and energy high in their teammates through the week of preparation.

The Lady Bisons will travel to Clarksville on Friday to take on Austin Peay. Play in Clarksville will begin at 1 p.m.

Aid feels that Austin Peay will be a good match for her girls as they come off of the tough Memphis match.

“If we go in there and play our game and our tennis, the Austin Peay match should go in our favor,” Aid said.

The Lady Bisons will turnaround for a 5 p.m. start as they host Chattanooga on Saturday at Whitworth Country Club.

“UTC plays with a lot of energy,” Aid said, “so hopefully we’ll come off of one match and have a good 24-hour turnaround. Last week we didn’t have a very good turnaround.”
