The Lipscomb women’s tennis team will be back in action this weekend as they host Arkansas State on Friday night and then travel to Murfreesboro for a match against MTSU on Sunday.
The Lady Bisons are 4-3 on the season and coming off of a 7-0 win over Cumberland Sunday. Head coach Jamie Aid is happy with the confidence her team has built this season.
“We want to continue to build that confidence as we head into conference play,” Aid said.
Arkansas State enters Friday’s match at 2-4 on the season and coming off of a win over Southeast Missouri last Friday. The Lady Bisons have never faced the Red Wolves so this will be a new experience for them.
“It’s always good to play those teams you don’t have a history with,” Aid said. “Arkansas State will be a solid team.”
Play will begin against Arkansas State at Whitworth Country Club at 7 on Friday night.
The Lady Bisons will get to make an instate road trip as they head to Murfreesboro on Sunday. MTSU is 8-2 on the season and riding a five-match win streak. The Lady Bisons will serve as their second opponent of the day as MTSU will begin with Western Kentucky.
“MTSU has had a great spring so far and they will be a tough opponent on Sunday,” Aid said.
Aid feels that her team’s confidence is continuing to build as the players continue their strong play and as they get to full strength.
“They look great, they feel great,” Aid said. “The match Sunday allowed us to play some good balls.”
The Lady Bisons have had a couple of players be limited with injuries but their production didn’t drop off as they girls continued to step up.
“Our depth is really what we look at as our weapon,” Aid said. “Our girls don’t focus on numbers or spots or who’s playing that day. It’s all about what’s best for the program and team.”
