Women's tennis falls to Columbus State

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Lipscomb women’s tennis fell on Saturday night to Columbus State, which is undefeated and ranked No. 8 in Division II, 5-2.

The Lady Bisons came out flat in practice Friday  and head coach Jamie Aid felt that transitioned into Saturday’s match.

The Lady Bisons dropped the doubles point and weren’t able to change the momentum heading into singles play.

Playing in the three seed, Laura Kent showed some life for the Lady Bisons as she swept Giorgia Vitale 6-3, 6-2.

At the five spot, Jenny Borck got the other win as she defeated Carmila Tobar 6-3, 4-6, (10-6).

Aid felt that this match was a good match for her team to learn some lessons. Aid and her staff have stressed winning each day of practice before they can win the matches.

“We have been talking about practicing at 100 percent and not having a bad day,” Aid said. “Until we ‘win the day’ we aren't going to win the weekends.”

Aid hopes her team will learn that this is truly a team effort for them to win these matches.

The Lady Bisons are back in action during the week as they take on rival Belmont on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Centennial Sportsplex.
