Women's Tennis sweeps Harding 7-0 in spring opener

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Lipscomb women's tennis team opened the spring portion of its season with a 7-0 sweep of Harding University Friday night at the Whitworth Tennis Center.

The Lady Bisons (1-0) won the doubles point with Laura Kent and Melissa Kromer winning 6-4 at No. 1. Hanna Victorsson and Hannah Gamage won 6-1 at No. 2. Thabile Tshatedi and Kate Kandyba took a 6-3 win at No. 3.

In a bonus match Kathryn Evans and Lorena Djuknic swept the set 6-0.

In singles matches Gamage won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1. Kandyba was 6-3, 7-5 at No. 2. Victorsson, in her first match for the Lady Bisons, won 7-6, 6-1 to round out the top three.

Kromer finished with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 4. Djuknic won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 5. After losing set one 6-3 Evans bounced back for 6-3 and 10-5 for the win.

In bonus match Tshatedi won 6-0, and 6-0.

Lipscomb is back in action Sunday at 1 p.m. against Tennessee at the McCallie School in Chattanooga.
