NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A forecast of a rainy weekend has changed the plans for the Lipscomb women’s tennis team.

Instead of playing their first two home matches on the outside courts this weekend the Lady Bisons will play Murray State at 7 p.m. Friday at the Whitworth Indoor Tennis Center. Sunday’s match with Eastern Illinois has been canceled.

Lipscomb, 8-2, has won its last seven matches, a program record. Murray State, 4-3, has won its last two matches.

“We have had a foundation of working hard and being process-oriented,” Lipscomb coach Jamie Aid said. “Our current seniors really grasp that mentality.

“We have been taking each match as it comes. The girls walk on the court to compete. They aren't nervous, but instead seem to be excited to compete.”

The last outings for both Lipscomb and Murray were against Arkansas State. Lipscomb won 4-0 and Murray State took a 4-1 decision.

“These last couple of wins are a by-product of how our girls work daily,” Aid said. “We will have a large task ahead of us on Friday against Murray.

“We will continue to prepare as we have all season. We will place a group on the court that will compete hard.”
